Otherwise known as “classic massage” used to support the long-term health and rehabilitative care of individuals and athletes. Firm but gentle pressure is used with long flowing movements for total relaxation. Increased circulation and relief of muscle tension are results of this massage.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The relaxing heat of the stones helps to warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. The movement is slower and the pressure is deeper to concentrate on areas of tension and pain. Some soreness may occur after the massage.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reflexology is an alternative therapeutic treatment based on the idea that the body has an inner network of reflex points that connect to other organs. The reflex points that are targeted are in the hands, feet and ears, but are connected to bodily systems and internal organs, from the lymphatic system to the bladder. In a reflexology treatment session, pressure is applied to certain sections of the feet, hands or other areas. As a result of the body’s natural reflex zones, the correlating bodily system or organs benefit from the pressure.
Lymphatic Flow Therapy
With the use of essential oils and specialized massage techniques, this therapy is designed to open the lymphatic system, allowing the body to spontaneously detox.
